Associate Professor in the departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Southern California, and Director of the Psychological Trauma Program at LAC-USC Medical Center.  He is a past president of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Designated as "Highly Cited Researcher" by the Institute for Scientific Information, he is author of various articles, books, and psychological tests in the areas of trauma, child abuse, and interpersonal violence. He lectures widely on trauma and the application of mindfulness practices to trauma therapy.
