After only 4 short years in existence, and without government funding, the Coming Home Project has been recognized among the top 7 reintegration programs in the country. We have served 3,000 people from more than 30 states in four regions around the country. More than 2 million have downloaded our online video trainings. Now I want to talk with you – Coming Home Project friends, participants, volunteers and supporters -- about our sustainability and how you can help. Coming Home benefitted from a large three year grant that ended last year. We have shown our bona fides and helped thousands. An independent evaluator compiled exceptional outcome results from our 2010 retreats that prove what we have known for 4 years from thousands of anecdotal accounts.
For the past 9 months, I have been working to diversify and retool our resource base. We’ve brought on exceptional new Board members (link) and together we are building substantive partnerships that can add mutual value. We are leaving no stone unturned in locating and cultivating relationships that will create sustainability. There are many real, viable and exciting opportunities on the horizon, but to date none has yet born fruit.
Our needs are immediate. I am asking you to consider making a personally significant, tax-deductible contribution now. I urge you to stop and reflect: Whom do you know with the means and the motivation to help, right now? Many of us know people in our personal, family and professional circles who give money, sometimes large sums of money, to charities of their choice. You may have contacts in Silicon Valley, Hollywood or across town. Many want to give to veterans causes but don’t know who is doing good work or who to trust. Why not Coming Home Project?
We are grateful for your participation, time, energy and expertise. Now we are asking you to consider supporting the Coming Home Project in another very important way. And to help others derive the benefit that comes from knowing that they too are contributing, not to a cause, but to such amazing people, our veterans and their family members and providers.
